This is Spoke Live was an interactive pop-up event, bringing the world of This is Spoke to Peckham on the 17th of November at Copeland Park and it sure did come with a bang.

Both incredible individuals in their respective fields; The Slumflower, referred by Elle as a ‘millennial mastermind’, Chidera Eggerue is an award-winning Blogger, Instagram Star, Campaigner and Author. She speaks on issues facing young women today. With her down to earth, no-nonsense approach, she is quickly becoming this generation’s agony aunt. Suli Breaks, is a charismatic Poet and spoken word Artist from London who uses social media as his platform to engage people with strong social topics such as racism, religion, and beauty. Together they hosted This is Spoke; A 12 part series exploring today’s important issues from mental health to youth culture, previous guests included activist and model Munroe Bergdorf and South London soul singer Poppy Ajudha.

On the day, special guests Raleigh Ritchie and Author Emma Dabiri (Don’t Touch My Hair) went live with Slumflower and Sulibreaks, discussing topics that really matter.

There were also amazing live performances by headliner Ghetts, one of the UK’s highly acclaimed grime artist who was joined by Lave La Rue, West London’s very own rapper, designer and Founding member of arts’ collective Nine8. Which was followed by DJ sets from record maker, player and mixer Martelo (NTS radio) and Antonio Odunlami (worldwide FM).

The day also hosted a number of pop up shops and interactive workshops, including a zine workshop by Enlarge Your Memories alongside a merchandise workshop by Tottenham Textiles.

A day filled with inspiration alongside the opportunity to bounce off ideas, opinions and learn different perspectives. We hope to see more events like this in the future!
