Constantly quoted as one of London’s most stalwart artists, Maverick Sabre is back with this brand new single, Drifting.
The video and cinematic short film serves as the first single from his upcoming third album, which is set to be released next spring.
Since firing into the UK music scene seven years ago with his #2 charting debut album Lonely are the Brave, Maverick Sabre has steadily built himself a revered reputation not only as a respected artist, but as also an intricate storyteller, a bold spokesperson and a gifted songwriter.
His grainy and emotive music constantly delivers and depicts a powerful message, and in Drifting, he hits home once again. Deriving influences from numerous different visuals that he was inspired to at the time (ranging from Kendrick Lamar‘s Kahlil Joseph Documentary through to La Haine), the visual for Drifting was filmed by director Hector Dockrill, in Ballynum, Ireland, and featured a range of Maverick’s friends. The narrative for the video was to explore the undertones and ‘underbelly’ of this part of Ireland, and was also inspired by Irish cinema.
Speaking on his behalf, his PR gave an insight into what inspired him for the video.
“I was brought up in Ireland and Irish cinema has always grabbed me, so we wanted to carry that on through this as well and make sure it was captured as beautifully as possible. The aim is to tell as many different untold Irish stories within a grander film. ‘Drifting’ is Scene One”
With such a creative mind, it is safe to say that we are in store for some more great visuals coming from Maverick Sabre between now and the release of his upcoming album. This is a new chapter for him; independent releases and self produced music, and spring 2019 could not come any sooner.
