Greta Thunberg

Greta Thunberg was only 15 years old when she decided to take the matter of climate change into her own hands.

In the summer of 2018, Greta Thunberg began striking from school and skipping classes to sit outside Swedish parliament everyday, in protest of climate change. Two years later and still not yet even a legal adult yet and the brave Greta Thunberg has given talks to rooms full of adults about the urgent change that needs to be made to the world’s climate.

After being named Time’s person of the year in 2019, Thunberg even faced backlash from many adults, one of them being United States President Donald Trump. But the young activist made it clear that she had one goal in mind and that was the betterment of the world’s climate. In response to the backlash, she wrote on her Twitter account “I guess they must simply feel so threatened by us…. The world is waking up. Change is coming whether they like it or not.”

Now currently in voluntary self-isolation, due to the coronavirus. Greta Thunberg has found a way to continue leading young and older people into climate change activism. Now at 17 years old, the activist has released a series of weekly webinars titled “Talks For The Future”. Which will feature Thunberg in conversation with scientists, activists, and journalists about climate change.

With more young people taking control of their future, whether it be in politics, climate change or social justice. Thunberg is proof of the importance of young people’s voices today!
