UK-based retailer END. has partnered with NEEDLES as part of the celebration for END’s 15th anniversary. The two companies have come together to create a capsule featuring two fresh and funky tracksuits both using an originally Persian paisley pattern combined with the traditional tracksuit silhouette. The capsule provides both a look for the bold and brave man but also for the understated calm and collected type of guy.
The innovative tracksuit somewhat reminds me of the iconic look featured in Queen and Slim worn by Daniel Kaluuya who has also starred in Jordan Peele’s horror Get Out. From the colour to the loose fit, style and the model’s dark skin contrasting beautifully against the print, all these elements strike my memory back to that movie and I absolutely love it.
The burgundy tracksuit combines the two characters outfits together to create something that’s unique loud and proud with a clear element of cultural input. This interesting take on an old skool hip hop style tracksuit shows us how adding culture to something gives it new life and new meaning, something all designers should consider and draw inspiration from when creating.
