First Ever BBC Thriller with Black Actors in Leading Roles [@idriselba @adrianlester]

Peter Moffat returns to BBC One with this bold and gripping series which sees lead character Maya, played by Sophie Okonedo, about to become the first black Director of Public Prosecutions, with her husband, Nick, played by Adrian Lester.

Undercover  is a rarity in BBC1 primetime for having two black actors in lead roles.

In the past Okonedo has stated her ethnicity has been a constraint to her success in the the UK, with the US being more open and acceptable. These thoughts are shared with other black British actors e.g Idris Elba who last month  told MPs he had to move to the US to further his career and avoid “best friend” roles.

Could this move be the future of black actors in leading roles?
