Frank Ocean finally drops a new album and it’s Visual!

A new album from Frank Ocean. Finally.

We have been waiting for a new album, a “Channel Orange” follow up for almost 5 years and now we have it. “Endless is a 45-minute “visual album” by Frank Ocean available now on Apple Music.

While we are blessed with music from the new album, the film features Ocean himself in a warehouse, one which he had used earlier this month to host a four-day live stream at boysdontcry.co, with desks and audio equipment lining the back wall.

Endless opens with At Your Best (You Are Love) by the Isley Brothers, which was notably covered by Aaliyah. Ocean first released his take on it in early 2015, but has since updated it.

The new songs feature contributions from Jonny Greenwood, James Blake, and more.

In announcing Endless, Apple also indicated that “more from Frank” would be released over the weekend, leading fans to assume that his second album is nearly, finally here.

Taking on a similar approach to Beyonce (who also put our visual albums as accompaniments to her last two major releases) could again leave us to believe “Boys Don’t Cry” could actually be here very soon.

For months, Boys Don’t Cry has existed only in the context of the hype surrounding its nonexistence. Only on Friday did we learn that the album is in fact real. Whether the prolonged release is the consequence of tormented genius or simply this century’s great marketing stunt does not matter — Ocean’s fans are hungry for it.
