Brighton’s very own singer-songwriter Grace Carter has dropped the visuals for her latest track ‘Heal Me’.

‘Heal Me’ is an empowering number dedicated to all those abandoned yet strong willed. Firstly, her incridble ability to turn a raw emotion into something beautiful shines throughout the track. But also, it displays her fantastic songwriting ability, something we’ve come to know and love with her music. She’s taken inspiration from the likes of Lauryn Hill and Nina Simone when creating the song.

The video itself sees a reminiscent Grace reflecting on her childhood. From the beginning, the video a she reflects on her up-bringing without her father. This is accompanied but lots of home videos showing her learning how to play the piano and enjoying quality time with her mother.

Posting on social media about the song the singer: “I spent a long time looking in the mirror and not recognising myself: I spent a long time chasing someone I thought I needed for all of the answers writing this song was an important moment for me. It felt like a massive turning point where I really took back my control for the first time in my life. We all tend to want the things we can’t have and for me that really rung true. I spent a long time chasing this person because they were half of me and I was a piece of them. However, this song was written on the day I realised I never needed them, because I never actually had them. It’s a song about owning your happiness and being reliant on others to give you the love you deserve”.

2019 is looking to be the breakout year for the talent musician. She gained a place on the BBC’s Sound of 2019 poll. As well as gearing up for a full nationwide tour in March.
