Let’s Stand Up For Sierra Leone #StandForSL

Last week over four hundred people lost their lives when the side of Sugar loaf mountain collapsed into an area called Regent in Sierra Leone. Apparently over six hundred people are still missing and volunteers are working relentlessly to try and recover victims.

The tragedy was not heavily covered by news outlets, something that we have seen way to often when it comes to tragic events that happen in the continent. Major news outlets pick and choose what stories hold most relevance to their audience. Unfortunately African/Caribbeans are a minority in the UK which means events like this are held to the back when it comes to importance.

It’s important that in times like this we do what we can to help those that are less fortunate. Humanity is something that is lacking from a lot of conversations lately. The act of helping another human that is in need is the foundation to making this world a better place.

On the 30th of August 2017 Guap Magazine will be showcasing Stand For Sierra Leone at Birthdays in Dalston. We’ve joined forces with some incredible acts from Sierra Leone to put on a show to raise money for the victims of the mudslide. Some of the acts taking the stage on the night include

Big Zuu

Maxsta

A*M*E

Shareefa Enery

& Many more.

Tickets are available at Eventbrite & DICE.FM

Let’s help make a difference to those lives affected by this horrific event.
