Shahlaa Discovers [@shahlaatahira] X Guap Issue 17

You didn’t know about Deewain

I first heard Deewain’s sound when he got in touch with me back in March earlier this year. He had just released his project S.O.E (Sense Of Entitlement) which I instantly fell in love with. Unfortunately though, my Roundhouse Radio show rules were; I would only play exclusives and first plays on my show. So I let Deewain know that I loved his sound and he should holla with his next single release from the project. Consistency is key! When he was ready to push his next single 90’s RnB ft Priya I was able to premier it on my show and it got a great response from both my listeners and other DJ’s on the station. Since then I’ve seen him perform live and the energy he brings to the stage is effortless! That combined with his unique sound and style, means its only a matter of time before you’ll be a fan. But don’t take my word for it, check the details below about him performing at After 8 X Prolific Visuals this Thursday 16th November and have a read about what Deewain had to say about himself…

Describe your sound in 3 Words.

eclectic, energy, honest

Why is music so important to you?

Music is so important to me because of the sense of freedom I get when creating it and performing it. If I could put that feeling in a drink I’d sale it. Its also important because I might not know someone but I can be telling their story that’s so sick. Music is a form of communication we need.

When your think about your biggest dreams, where does your mind take you?

Selling out 02 arena. That will be the day I swear. I’ve been to so many concerts there so yeah that’s one of my aims.

Hindsights a bitch, what do you wish you could of learnt earlier?

I wish I started all of this earlier but erm not to rely on people too tough and don’t worry about what the “industry” thinks, I would have told myself just to be me and that’s it everything will come from that. And it’s okay not to be okay.

I like you man, where do I go to check out more?

Spotlight Track:

Hailing from North London Lexx City just dropped his latest single Murder last Friday. With the Afro Swing sound dominating London ears at the moment, Lexx City’s style of blending Dancehall, UK Rap and R&B couldn’t come at a better time because this is the direction UK music is moving in.

When I asked Lexx City about Murder he said “It’s my favourite song out of all the songs I’ve ever recorded. I wanted to make an anthem for the ladies, G’s & yardies and Murder is what I ended up with.”

Lexx City started believing music could become more than a hobby towards the end of 2016 after he made his debut appearance on Link Up TV. Shortly after Lexx City released his first single “Silver Surfer” earlier this summer. Silver Surfer got a great response, allowing Lexx City to grow in confidence and create a solid fan base. With this most recent release Murder he is just continuing to secure a solid lane for himself in our over populated UK underground scene.

So stay up to date @ItsLexxCity and check his single Murder in the link above.
